Sixty Years Free

by
Win Rainer
(Wife of a Fepow)

Farewell to the years of war's agony and tears
Gone forever all those worries and fears
Never to see so many sweet faces ever again
To live through those times no caring only pain
What can one say now that time has past
Memories will live on as long as life last
Many a young lad now past his prime
Can remember the atrocities committed in his time
What faith kept them alive all those years ago?
The cruelty starvation and illness only they know
A long hard road of endeavour they have truly learnt
They are now at peace they have truly earned
