Today, August 15th is the Sandakan Day Memorial, to remember those who have perished in the war.
The ceremony was held this morning at the Sandakan Memorial Park, Taman Rimba. The guest of honour was YB Datuk Peter Pang, the State Minister of Youth & Sports.
It was also attended by the Australian High Commissioner to Malaysia, HE Penny Williams, the former Australian Foreign Minister, Hon. Alexander Downer and other dignitaries from Australia and Britain.
Some 300 people participated in the event. Mr Lee Poh Chin represented the Sabah Society to lay the wreath.
