Nowhere to hide and nowhere to run
The remorseless fanatic with a gun
Cruelty and starvation they simply struggled on
All hope of any kind of future long gone
Labouring on the railway in the heat
Backbreaking and blistered feet
So was their lot, those years ago
Their agonies! We will never know
